January 20th - Fun Day with the Grandkids!

Since Ashby spent the night with us, my day started focusing on her.  It actually started about 2:00 am when she climbed into bed with us.  We have a king-size bed, so there is plenty of room, but she really likes to cuddle.  She was as tight to me as she could possibly get!  It was nice, though.  She doesn't move much, so when we were both back to sleep, there was not a problem.  It is fun having her with us.

We got up, got dressed, had some breakfast, and around 8:00, Lisa dropped Brooks off.  She and David were going to the temple.  Their stake was having a special stake temple day, so they went to participate.  It was a Monday holiday and so many people are off work that stakes often ask the temple to open for the morning.  Our stake does it on Labor Day.

So, I had a fun day with Ashby and Brooks.  They were both really good and played and made me laugh and all that good stuff!  Brooks is still so into trains that he immediately set up the Thomas the Train track, but decided he wanted it to be one long track - all the way across the room.  That stayed there all day long, and he was playing with it more than he was not!  Ashby had her new Barbie type dolls from the movie Frozen and played with those a lot, but she also played with a bunch of other things.  She was also singing "Let it Go" from Frozen most of the day.  By the afternoon, Brooks was singing just as loud as she was.

David came by to pick them  up around 4:15 or so, so we had a nice, long, fun day together.  Brooks never napped, so I am sure he was ready for an early bedtime.  Ashby sat in my lap for a while when we were doing quiet time and actually fell asleep.  It must have been that 2 am interruption in her sleep last night!

We were supposed to go to Empty Nesters this evening, but Bill had worked all day and got home shortly before 7 and was totally exhausted.  We have reached an age where it is sometimes wiser to rest than keep going and this was one of those times!  I must admit, I was pretty tired, too.  I love having the kids here, but it does take a lot of energy - and I had my sleep interrupted at 2 am, too!
