This was a pretty normal Sunday. I had my last class with the family history group. The class will start up again in September. Since this was a fifth Sunday, the third hour was a special program. This time it was on family history and the goal was for everyone to find a name to reserve for the temple. Obviously, we didn't actually accomplish that during the few minutes we had, but we did have most people with their computers/devices and made sure everyone was set up with a FamilySearch account. Those that already had an account were given some ideas on programs that would help them find sources and names. It went well, but the time was just too short.
The kids didn't come over for dinner, so we just had sloppy joe sliders, fruit, and chips. It was actually very good. Of course, it helps to be hungry! The kids did come over a little later and we had a couple of hours with them. They stayed until the little ones were so tired that they were getting cranky. It is fun to have whatever time we can get together. Tonight, they were into the lincoln logs and built cabins.
Another great Sunday!

June 28th - Nice Lunch Today
This was a Saturday with no obligations, so we didn't overdo. My house is clean, thanks to my house cleaners, although I did have laundry to do. Other than that, I got myself buried in family history and that is where I spent most of my day.
Bill decided we needed to go out to lunch, so we went to Red Lobster. Very good. In the afternoon, I was tired (maybe overdid it yesterday?) so I did take a short nap. Other than that, my afternoon was also spent on family history. Part of the time, I was checking for completed ordinances, bringing Roots Magic up to date. Part of the time, I was doing some cleaning up on Family Search, using findarecord.com. Of course, that required a little research to make sure the cleaning up was correct. I did find a good source for some additional information on Henry Andrew Smith - an early history of Kossuth County that had a bio about him. It had a few things that help to clarify his timeline.
So, it was a good, fun, relaxing day and I accomplished a lot.

June 27th - Certainly not a Quiet Day Today!
I was up and ready early this morning, so I could be at Lisa's by 8:45. She and I and the kids headed down to Palmetto (south of Atlanta) to go to a play of the Wizard of Oz. It was a beautiful setting. It is an old farm that has been converted to cabins, a camp, activities, petting zoo, and a theater. However, the theater is literally the "yellow brick road" and the audience sits on chairs or blankets on either side of the road and the play happens all up and down the road. It was a fun experience and was quite well done. Being outside in such a casual setting made it fun, too, as sometimes the audience was pulled in to the story.
When the play was finished, the kids enjoyed the petting zoo for a while, then we took off to find a place for lunch. As there were not a lot of options right close, we ended up at DQ. It wasn't great, but it worked! Then there was the long ride back home. We really had a fun day.
While I was gone, the two young women from the ward came over and cleaned my house, so it was wonderful to walk in to such a nice house. They have done it several times, so they know where things are and what to do, so I just left the door open for them and the money on the table. I was not disappointed!
I had only gotten back home for a short bit when the sister missionaries stopped by. One of them was new and they were going around meeting some of the members. We had a nice chat and they were just about ready to leave when Bill got home, so they stayed a few more minutes.
By then, it was time to get ready to go to Lizzie's birthday party. The family hadn't gotten together for a while, so it was fun to see everyone - at least everyone who could make it for the party. We had hot dogs and hamburgers. Everyone is so excited that we only have 7 days and a "sleep" until we will all be at the beach. That was a major topic of conversation!
So, while I have some quiet days - and enjoy them - today was not one of them. I was on the go the entire day. I will probably be exhausted tomorrow! But, today was a great day.

June 26th - Visiting Teaching Kind of a Day
My companion picked me up and we went to visit teach one of our sisters this morning. Good thing is we had a great visit. Bad thing is that we didn't pay attention to the time and we were there way longer than we should have been! Oh, well. Good thing she is a great friend, too.
When I got back home, I did the few things that needed to be done around the house, including finishing up the load of laundry from yesterday and getting another one done today. I spent some time at the computer, trying to do some from family history, but FamilySearch was acting funny and I couldn't do what I wanted to do. Made for a frustrating afternoon!
I finally gave up and went to lie down and read a little and promptly fell asleep for a short nap. There is always a solution to every problem - and sometimes a nap is it! I actually cooked dinner tonight - big surprise!
End result - my day was not a total loss, as I accomplished some good things, but I sure didn't accomplish what I had planned on the family history. Good day - bad day, I guess.

June 25th - Yes, Family History Day
This is the day I work at the Family History Center, so my Wednesdays are pretty much the same every week. This week I picked up my friend and she and I worked part of the time on a problem she discovered. If Family Search tree were to be believed, her great-grandfather was only 3 when his daughter was born! Yeah, I think there is a problem. We didn't get it solved, but we did confirm the birth date of her grandmother. We are thinking the parents are wrong - duh!
When we finished there, we went to Chipotle for lunch - always good! - and then made a run to Target to pick up something. After I took her home, I stopped by the library and picked up a stack of books that had come in - I think I have myself in trouble again, as 6 books all came in at once. Then I stopped and got my haircut.
By the time I got home, I didn't feel like doing much else. I even forgot that I had left a load of clothes in the dryer, so I will need to take care of that tomorrow. Oops! I am usually pretty good about not doing that, but there are days............
Naturally, I sat down and did a little more work on my friend's problem, trying to find some possible ways to get some answers. I like solving the problems.
So another Family History Day - aka Wednesday - is finished!

June 24th - Lunch with Friends
Normal morning, not too exciting, but around 11:00, I headed over to the home of the sister who is my visiting teacher. She was having a little luncheon for the sisters she visits. Well, there were two of us, plus her daughter-in-law who is currently living with them. We had a lovely lunch and a lot of fun chatting. Her husband popped in after we had eaten and got excited to learn about my dad's airport, so he had to google earth and see it. Fun.
This afternoon, I worked on some family history for a while and did a few other odds and ends, but again it was a rather lazy day. I guess I need to push myself a little more - but why? I keep busy and enjoy myself, so that should be enough!

June 23rd - Day of Recovery
I am wondering if I am getting old. It seems like I need a day to recover whenever I do anything that requires any energy at all. We had such fun with the kids here, but I was tired today. I got the Monday morning straightening done and all that goes with that. Other than that, I was pretty much lazy the rest of the day.
I spent some time on family history, though, but that doesn't require much energy. I also took a short nap - gotta get recharged. Somehow I was busy all day, but I sure didn't accomplish all that much.
We found out today that a niece was out walking the dog and took a bad fall. Her arm sustained a compound fracture, both bones, and she had to have surgery to repair it last night. She is still in the hospital. Bill was able to stop by and see her on his way home from work. She hopes to go home tomorrow. The birthday party for her youngest, which is scheduled for Friday, is hopefully still on, but someone else is going to have to do most of the work! We leave for the beach in 12 days, so she is not going to be doing much ocean swimming this year! Hope it heals quickly.
